+So I went to Al Hirschfeld on Tuesday while they were putting Nick up. It was sad. I spent almost 3 full weeks there seeing Darren’s face and now it’s green. Anyway…I took this pic before they took it down.
I don’t understand why anyone would want a playbill for a production they didn’t see. I get that people are excited by Darren Criss being on Broadway, but I don’t see the point in having one if I didn’t go. I see people on the Darren Criss tag ordering them online - there are giveaways - ect.
Playbills are souvenirs from a production you got to experience.
#In My Opinion
For me, playbills are a piece of history. Some hardcore playbill collectors are willing to pay any amount to get various playbills, signed or not. Since some people can’t afford to see the show (such as i) the only way to get a legal theatre experience is through collecting proof that the production happened through playbills. I can’t speak for the other Darren Criss fangirls, but playbills are a big part of my theatre experience and career.
